The community garden is the only program like it in Woonsocket as well as some of the neighboring towns. It serves as an outdoor space that individuals and organizations can access their own individual plots to grow fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as herbs and flowers. It has provided many families and individuals with a skill trade and the means to provide themselves and their families with healthy food options, that they would not have without the access to the garden. In the past, it has also been a place that at-risk youth in the community would learn valuable work experience,  providing opportunity for those youth to develop leadership skills as well as to be introduced to and learn about agriculture. We continue to work with outside funding to bring this back. The Community Garden donates regularly to the local food pantries providing fresh fruit, herbs, and vegetables for low income families in the community.
