Our Purpose

The Fairfield Community Center has been working to meet the changing needs of Franklin county and beyond since its inception in 1992. Currently, we serve the community through the food shelf, weekly community meals, cooking classes, and exciting vacation and summer camps for youth of all ages. We provide social, health, and educational programs for all ages in a nurturing environment to create, promote, and enhance the well being of our surrounding communities. We are excited to do this work because we can see the impact the work has on the youth, families and seniors who have and are participating in our programs.  Our food shelf sources local organic produce for our clients, weekly.  The Community Meals are made with local products. A minimum of 10% of the cost of  ingredients is purchased from local farms. The youth in our programs expirience the organic bounty from our raised bed gardens (thank you, Grass Roots) from drying mint and chamomille for teas to digging, washing and eating potatoes. They chart rainfall, compost temperature, and air temperature to learn the full cycle and needs for growing plants. Seniors appreciate being able to meet and greet each other in a safe annd welcoming environment.
