MRV EV is at the beginning of the adventure to begin a carbon off set program in the Mad River Valley to fund an electric car share system running along Rt. 100/100B and Rt. 2 from Rochester to Montpelier with a spur to Waterbury and a satellite hub in Burlington. The initial proposal was presented at the December 2011 Valley Futures Network VFN in which it received very positive reception. The first meeting took place in February and our next meeting will be on April 20th. Meetings are advertised in the local newspaper, to a growing MRV EV group email list and also to the VFN. The Mad River Valley is an ideal location to initiate a rural electric car share system. Existing transportation infrastructure connects our valley in a central spine, Route 100 and Route 100B, making access to the cars relatively easy in a rural environment. Residents are primarily ecologically concerned which makes for an interested target market. We would like to do community outreach with the seed grant.
