Our Purpose

to engage low-income Somerville teens in learning about the Mystic River and its watershed in order to influence their awareness of and behavior towards the river.

Summary of Projects

Somerville Arts Council received a grant in 2011 for the youth leader stipends for the Mystic River Mural Project.

The group received a grant in 2009 to support the Mystic River Mural Project which uses hikes, canoe trips, and workshops with local environmental educators, naturalists and historians to introduce 7-10 low-income Somerville teenagers with the Mystic River and its watershed.

The group received a grant in 2007 to support the Mystic River Mural Project.

The group received a grant in 2006 to support the Mystic River Mural Project.

The group received a grant in 2005 to support the Mystic River Mural Project.

Somerville Arts Council received a grant in 2003 to fund the Mystic River Mural Project that engages 7-10 low income Somerville youth with summer employment stipends, training in arts and design, and environmental stewardship.
