Our Purpose

To impart a lasting impact on food justice, community revitalization, and youth development through education of Nubian culture and heritage, community agriculture, and educational workshops, and providing healthy organic local urban produces to everyone in the communities around us.NUBIA’s vision is to create a strong, prosperous community in which youth are active leaders, food sovereignty is celebrated through the growth of community agriculture, and education reaches all.

Summary of Projects

NUBIA received a grant in 2011 for stipends for the coordinator and teacher, overhead of the NUBIAN Center, tools materials and a grow light system for starting seedlings.

The group received a grant through the Boston Grants Initiative in 2010 to support the Nubian Seed & Yield program which aims to help 30 kids in our community and 20 kids from the Somali community to learn about the importance of good nutrition, the environment and helping those who are in need.
