to facilitate an annual procession centered on Mashapaug Pond. During the time leading up to the procession, UPP organizes related arts workshops in schools and public places. These workshops promote stewardship through educating local citizens about the history and environmental issues affecting Mashapaug Pond and the other ponds of the Pawtuxet River Watershed (including Tongue Pond, Spectacle Pond, and the Roger Williams Park ponds). We collaborate with other environment, education, arts, and preservation organizations, and offer the procession as a vehicle to publicly share activities and knowledge related to the restoration of our watershed.
