Our Purpose

to serve as the hub for progressive activities that promotes collaboration among peoples from the African Diaspora and our neighbors. We strive for excellence and equity in education, entrepreneurship, cultural preservation and celebration of the human spirit. This community-based sustainable agriculture initiative with many partners is located at two land-based growing sites in Falmouth. At River Point, the focus is our youth grower and leadership development program. At Tidewater, our International Garden Project has provided access to the means of producing food, therefore increasing the self-reliance of low-income people, families and communities from more than 20 diverse groups. Through institutional and direct marketing, we generate sustainable income for the project and support enterprise development for immigrant farmers and young people.

Summary of Projects

In 2009, the Center for African Heritage received a grant to formalize the process of recruiting employers, placing graduates in long-term jobs and tracking their progress over time. They worked to establish a professional program component for performing and documenting these tasks, including the initial costs of establishing an internet presence and of designing and placing marketing/advertising materials and messages.
