Our Purpose

to champion for clean energy conservation and sustainability measures by conducting public awareness campaigns, promoting energy efficiency, advocating renewable energy initiatives, and providing technical advice. The ultimate goal of the Barrington Energy Task Force (BETF) is to support nationwide efforts to mitigate the effects of global warming while providing for a secure, prosperous, and energy-independent America. The Task Force is a non-partisan coalition of local volunteers whose mission is to promote energy conservation measures for town residents, businesses, and municipal operations, thereby reducing energy costs for taxpayers while also cutting harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

Summary of Projects

BETF received a grant in 2008 to educate Barrington residents on methods to reduce energy use. Activities toward that goal include the continuation of the compact fluorescent promotional campaign _Keep Cool, Change Five_, conducting energy conservation workshops, working with municipal government to complete the EPA Community Energy Challenge, and the distribution of printed education materials.
