The group received a grant in 2007 tap the growing interest of commuinity residents by taking the Idle Free campaign to the next step, to distribute CFLs at events, and to support a town-wide "green living fair." In 2009 Lenox Environmental Committee received a grant to take a regional leadership role in Berkshire County, demonstrating that it is possible to reach a very significant percentage of the local population and to have them sign a "take charge" pledge to be responsible for their use of energy in a series of practical actions.
