Rhode Island Environmental Education Association
Our Purpose
RIEEA is a collaborative network of organizations and professionals working to promote environmental education (EE) in our schools and the wider Rhode Island community with the goal of developing environmentally literate citizens. Our membership includes teachers, naturalists, environmental organizations, and educators from universities, recreation centers, and state, federal, and non-profit agencies. We sponsor professional development and networking opportunities, offer online resources and communications, gather and disseminate information on EE, and promote public understanding of environmental issues. With a diverse, active, and growing membership of 160+ individuals and organizations, RIEEA is comprised of a wide range of professionals who collectively work with most RI schools in both formal and informal settings and are committed to integrated and multidisciplinary student achievement. Since our founding, RIEEA has continuously evolved its work to meet the needs of the state education system through collaborations with local educational organizations and agencies on initiatives that help schools maximize EE opportunities. In addition to supporting EE in the K-12 sphere, we promote sound environmental education legislation and support lifelong learning, environmental justice advocates, and more.
