In 2011, Esmond Concerned Citizens received funding to conduct a professional traffic study to prove that the 3 traffic entrances/exists to a proposed development are unnecessary and will result in negative impacts on the village and its residents.

The group received a grant to oppose the development of a 336-unit apartment complex on a 29-acre parcel that abuts Sebille Pond and wetlands in the Esmond area of Smithfield that violates the town's comprehensive plan's density guidelines.
