To fund a portion of the legal fees, technical assistance and public outreach needed to bring a successful appeal a local Planning Commission in Waitsfield that the Friends believe compromises the existing ordinances and planning process. Waitsfield's local planning program has frequently been cited as a model for Vermont communities. A recent planning board decision went against its own policies, and Friends wants to be sure this decision is not precedent setting, and that the Town's thoughtful growth management policies stay in force.
