Shires Food & Farm Network received a grant in 2010 for organizational support (database/website) as the group starts its area inventory of local food offerings. Shires Farm & Food Network is working towards creating a Food Council and promote/advocate for a local food system in the Bennington (South West VT) area.

Our Purpose
to cultivate a vibrant, just and resilient food system in and around Bennington County by: 1) Connecting the dots and building collaboration between the individuals and organizations that make up greater Bennington's farm and food system; 2) Increasing awareness of the benefits of growing and eating local foods; 3) Acting as a resource and clearinghouse for information about sustainable, locally grown and produced food and food resources in our communities; 4) Helping to increase the availability and affordability of food produced, sold and consumed within and around the Bennington region.
