Seedlings is a partnership campaign between the Interreligious Eco-Justice Network's Food & Faith Committee and the Hartford Committee Center. The group has set itself the following goals: 1. To establish a minimum of four new community garden locations on public or donated private land accessible to local citizens for use through the growing season, and to assist in the maintenance of existing community gardens. 2. To foster participation of a minimum of ten persons at each of four new community gardens by September 1, 2011. 3. To educate at least 200 participants and larger community members as to the health and nutritional benefits of locally-grown food, and to build community support of additional garden projects in the future. Seedlings received a grant in 2010 to launch a fall container gardening plot through a workshop on fall planting in September and support initial community organizing towards 6-10 container gardens at the Hartford Community Center site.
