Young Writers Project
Our Purpose
Young Writers Project (YWP) is a creative online community of teen writers, photographers, and artists, mostly ages 13-18, in the Burlington, Vermont area. Since 2006, YWP has been an invaluable resource to young Vermonters who want to create and share their writing and visual art with other teens on our website, youngwritersproject.org, and with the wider world through our avenues of publication – our monthly digital magazine, The Voice, annual anthology and Vermont media partners, the Burlington Free Press, VTDigger.org, the Rutland Herald, and the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus. Most ideas and projects begin with our 4,500 active users on our website, and YWP staff offer support and guidance where needed. Through special projects such as our Community Journalism Project and our digital magazine, The Voice, young people address the urgent issues of their lives including climate change, racial inequality and social injustice.
