Our purpose is to 1) support Worcester residents in need, and 2) build a vibrant and resilient community. To accomplish this, we connect residents with needs to already available resources or with neighbors who have volunteered to help. This could mean everything from referring someone to a fuel assistance program to setting up a meal train for someone who is sick or injured. During the COVID 19 crisis, this also means checking in with vulnerable neighbors, facilitating delivery of food or medicine, and the like. Community-building activities include community activities from the enjoyable (Sunday board games) to the educational (programs related to self-sufficiency). We also do projects for general community support, such as vouchers to help poorer residents pay for trash and welcome bags for new residents. We want to create community cohesiveness and a feeling of mutual support and responsibility for one another.
