Women In Need, Inc is committed to helping our low income female/family immigrant populations in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont facing hardship during the Coronavirus Crisis. We are excited to announce the​ ​The Protect Our Families Initiative​​. POFI is an extension of the work Women In Need, Inc has provided to our low income and immigrant women, along with their families, but now fully streamlined to support the successes of our women and their families during this pandemic.In 2003, WINI also established The Greater Portland Festival of Nations, the oldest and largest diversity festival in Northern New England, geared to celebrate Maine’s immigrant populations. Our intention for the Festival of Nations is to connect shared thought between our immigrant and native Maine populations.For almost twenty years, Women in Need, Inc has taken pride in helping our low income immigrant families succeed in Maine. Established in 2002, WINI has helped over 1400 women and their families in Northern New England with necessary resources that they request.Whether helping our clients internally, or connecting them with our trusted partners, The ​​Protect Our Families Initiative​​ aims to support our clients with:● Basic needs (family support, health, informational resources, food assistance)● Workforce Development (Business Development during COVID)● Advocacy & Policy (Legal Support via Bernstein Shur, Civic Engagement)● Education (ESL, Youth, Tutoring, SAT/College Prep)
