Our Purpose

Our purpose is to... to Address food insecurity- hunger, education, and economics in this region. with the seed grant we are now working in the local middle school with a large after school program  population.  Our aim is to teach and inspire Middle schoolers.  Teaching basic concepts of composting, soil building, seedling, planting germination.  The seed money would be used to put up a small hoop style greenhouse with a goal of planting winter greens and carrots for harvest early winter and use thse vegees to help supply the cafeteria.  The aim is for the students to be part of the entire process.  From seed germination to setting up the Hop greenhouse to building High nutrient soil for it to the harvest, etc.  The long range aim is to inspire young adults to see the need and value in growing their food.  With the hop house in operation we hope to get families involved and do cooking lessons and down the line build a farm on school grounds.  This is the start of what we anticipate to be long multi faceted project.
