Our Purpose

WesNEAT’s mission is to support the needs of the community as expressed by the community. We are students at Wesleyan University who are affiliates of the North End Action Team (NEAT), a grassroots-run nonprofit that works to empower residents of Middletown’s North End.As Wesleyan students, we redistribute our communal bank of resources, money, energy, time, and labor to aid local residents, and work to make sure our fellow students do too. We respond directly to community needs through donation drives, host events and teach-ins to make local politics accessible, and throw our energy behind local mutual aid efforts. We do a great deal of work on our campus, as we see it as our responsibility to educate ourselves and our classmates in order to build solidarity between the University students and the town. However, because of our individual backgrounds in youth organizing, community organizing, and education studies, we are also extending our passions outward to facilitate an organizing group with local high school students.
