Our Purpose

to provide emergency and supplementary food and services to those at risk of hunger in the Unity Maine area. The goal of the Volunteer Regional Food Pantry (VRFP) is to increase quality of life through a focus on food security through a community-operated food pantry which is a 501(c)(3) organization. The VRFP is a unique food pantry offering a once-monthly "drive-thru" style distribution serving up to 800 people, gardening and poultry husbandry classes in partnership with local farms and MOFGA, an on-site community garden, cooking classes, and food preservation workshops facilitated by Cooperative Extension Eat Well instructors. We believe that a successful pantry helps clients become more resilient and less in need of our services. We aim to educate, as we feed, in order to turn clients on to the resources available to them at local farms, in their community, and in their own backyards.
