Veterans Base Camp serves as a vital resource for veteran, surviving spouses and dependents, extended families of National Guard, and others in the region, providing essential services such as transitional housing, mental health support, and vocational training. However, one of the most critical challenges faced by the veterans and their extended families they serve is food insecurity—a challenge that can impede their ability to successfully reintegrate into civilian life and also generate thoughts of self-harm, especially for those already suffering from physical disability or mental health issues.
