The UCS is a pluralistic, open and affirming community church promoting stewardship of the environment (current budget $70,500). They have completed an audit and weatherization work on Parish Hall (still need to address the sanctuary); and had Interfaith Power and Light complete an audit on the parsonage. They recently completed a limited renovation of the parsonage, including new windows and foundation insulation, but more work is needed.The UCS has been working on sustainable issues for the last 8 years or so, with the largest event to date being the Our Children, Climate, Faith symposium last August. We are considering divesting, and are actively working to find additional ways to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, particularly with the heating of the buildings. Should we be awarded the grant, any funds raised after expenses up to the grant amount will be earmarked within the church budget to be spent on further weatherization and sustainable issues within the church.
