Trained Minds Advocates
Our Purpose
The project goal of Trained Minds (TM) Advocates is to raise awareness around the importance of mental health care and to destigmatize and normalize conversations related to mental health conditions and mental health illness by creating a safe space for learning and offering opportunities for discussion through engagement and peer support. The mission is to reach minority groups, particularly the Latino and Black communities, in low to medium-income housing sectors in Massachusetts through workshops and training events. Rethinking Mental Health 3Cs is a program that takes the learner from an external perspective of mental health and illness to an internal view and understanding of our mental health and wellness. The program includes the learning event, a Q&A, Mental Health Resource Sharing, and an evaluation. Rethinking Mental Health will launch a 3- hour workshop that will introduce participants to the 3Cs: Mental Health Crisis, the Mental Health Continuum, and Mental Health Care. The Mental Health Crisis begins to normalize the conversation by sharing Mental Health by the Number, Unpacking Mental Health Terms, and discussing Mental Health Strategies, followed by The Mental Health Continuum that explores mental health states and ways to support our mental health on the continuum from illness to wellness. Lastly, Mental Health Care introduces participants to Health and Wellness, Self-Care, and Self-Talk.
