The group received a grant in 2011 to create a program that will educate the rural community about growing, cooking, and preserving their own food. The project will address all generations with after school programs, evening programs, and weekend workshops in relearning the basics of land cultivation, self-sufficiency, and food preservation. The after school programs will use the school/community garden to grow their vegetables as well as any community members who feel inclined to use the space in the center of town for growing.
