Our Purpose

The Harborkeepers was founded out of the urgent need to build a local platform to advocate more strongly as a community on waterfront and environmental-related causes. We are a non-profit organization with a mission to build sustainable coastal community resiliency and to foster environmental stewardship in East Boston and surrounding communities. We build trust-based relationships which support others in achieving healthier, more sustainable, and more connected lives. By providing engaging and positive educational experiences on coastal issues, fostering volunteerism, providing training and building local capacity on environmental and coastal issues, we offer residents a role in the vital environmental stewardship work of our time.  The Harborkeepers uses multi-stakeholder, cross-sector partnership-building strategies to join together all stakeholders in a culture of respect-based knowledge exchange. We believe firmly that our model is creating equitable coastal resiliency.
