Terlingua Community Garden
Our Purpose
To provide local organic produce to our community through production, sharing, and education. The garden also provides space for people to grow their own food. Founded in 2008, and rooted in sustaiability our garden will be the first of its kind in our part of the country to use rainwater for year- round food production by 2014. Our current shade structure will become an enclosed adobe building powered by solar with a composting toilet. The garden holds monthly workshops and cooking classes taking it beyond food prodcution to educating our community about the importance of establishing a local food system. Our building will also provide a free meeting space for other community non-profit organizations. We strive to create a shining example of a sustainable desert garden that grows food for our community within the limits of our unique climate.
