Our Purpose

Temple Israel Greenfield initiated the idea of an Earth Day event to educate, advocate, effectuate and celebrate carbon reducation measures. Earth Day is during a holiday week for Jews and Christians.  We reached out to the Interfaith Council of Franklin County and several church affiliated groups signed on. We have since allied with the Greenfield Tree Committee (voluntary, citizen group which interfaces with the Department of Public Works) and Nolumbeka Project (a group of Northeastern Indigenous Peoples working for recognition of indigenous cultures), schools and other civic groups and related commercial interests. Our overall vision is to work will allied groups to address urgent and distressing realities of climate change with life-affirming, practical and legislative activism.
