Take Out Hunger is a fund created by and for the local community to help neighbors facing food insecurity while supporting our restaurants through innovative partnerships. Our tag line is Supporting Restaurants/Nourishing CommunityThe funds raised through Take Out Hunger are used to hire local restaurants who are struggling during the pandemic to prepare nutritious meals for the food insecure population in our community. Our program is modeled after a similar initiative in Portland, ME. We pay restaurants $10 per meal. The more money we raise, the more restaurants we can support, and the more meals we can provide! Our goal is to raise $25,000 - $30,000 a month for the next 4 months. It is our hope that by the end of May, the weather will be warm enough for restaurants to resume outdoor dining and that the vaccinations will be well underway.
