Our Purpose

The Stratham Memorial School (SMS) Student Garden is a community-built, joint project of the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and the Stratham School District.  Research shows that school gardens have a positive impact on learning in science, reading, writing, math, health education and the arts. Students in environment-based education programs, such as school garden programs, score higher than their peers across all standardized tests and have higher grade point averages, just to name a few measurable outcomes.  Our vision for the student garden is to realize these research-validated benefits while also connecting students to the agricultural heritage of their hometown.
