Our Purpose

to oppose to a proposed natural gas pipeline that would make Vermonters more dependent on a fossil fuel infrastructure and fossil fuel use; inhibit Vermont's transition to a post-carbon economy; and make Vermont, which has taken a moral stance against hydraulic fracturing by banning it in the state, complicit in the intensification of hydraulic fracturing in Alberta, Canada, whence the natural gas proposed for the pipeline would come. We take as our premise that the increased use of fossil fuels accelerates climate change and delays a just transition to resilient and equitable communities.
