We formed this group with the goal of engaging youth in textile arts to enable them to recognized how they could be creative and help others in their community transform their work into visible and meaningful arts. Our projects help marginalized youth see the impact they can make. By participating, they learn the value of their contributions and understand their involvement matters. Our mission is to encourage community members to support each other and openly discuss creative projects. We show how these efforts build self-esteem and enable lasting contributions from everyone.Stitching the Future Projects value insights from participants, highlighting the importance of engagement and relevance. Our collaborations with other community organizations has deepened our appreciation for sewing’s role in disadvantaged communities, guiding us to honor tradition while inspiring future community change.
