Our Purpose

We are women & LGBTQ+-owned social impact start-up founded in early 2022 by two longtime mental health/social work clinician-executives. Our mission is to provide high-quality, empirically-grounded behavioral health, public health, neuroscience & education consulting, training & media content directly into communities through accelerated research-to-implementation pathways, strategic collaborative innovations, and scalable capacity building programs.  After more than two decades (each) of clinical & executive work in failed nonprofit, educational & healthcare systems, we are clear that the broken & inequitable American mental health system cannot meet the scope or complexity of mental health need. We synergize current neuroscience, social science & behavioral health research into accessible, replicable, scalable equity-rooted training & capacity-building programs to bring the best science & tools to traditionally marginalized, under-resourced and excluded communities and spaces. In the face of the climate crisis, StateChange is developing new public health training models for supporting individuals, groups and communities with the growing challenges of climate distress, eco anxiety, environmental grief & climate workforce burnout. We are working in collaboration with climate, sustainability & environmental justice partners in Vermont on these projects, and have made climate-related mental health a core impact priority.
