Our Purpose

Southie Trees is devoted to preserving and maintaining tree cover (which is currently at 9%) in South Boston by engaging constituents of various ages and socioeconomic backgrounds in tree education and advocacy with the long-term goal of improving and maintaining tree cover in the neighborhood, allowing residents to experience the many benefits of urban trees, including but not limited to: energy savings, reduced climate impact, lower asthma and other autoimmune disease rates, higher property values, and reduced noise and crime rates.

Summary of Projects

Southie Trees received a grant in 2011 to educate and mobilize constituents from schools, housing developments and neighborhood community groups about tree coverage in South Boston.
