Our Purpose

The Southeastern New England Fibershed's purpose is to rebuild a regional fiber system in Southeastern New England centered around local fibers, local dyes, local waste and local labor. While we are actively connecting all parts of our regional supply chain in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, we have also entered into year two of exploring wastewater as a resource for farmers for irrigation and fertilizer. We are also spearheading a Waste Wool Working Group through the main Fibershed in California, that is helping farmers to look at ways to effectively process and create revenue from "waste wool" being thrown away by farmers worldwide. The current focus for this is both pelletizing the wool as well as create waste wool scouring throughout New England.
