Our purpose is to create a learning lab/space within the Greenhouse and Garden at SBS in So. Bristol, Maine.  Our community is filled with lobsterpeople, clammers, artists, authors, educators and professions of all types.  We have a group of enthusiastic students who wish to bring their learning to the outdoors, and put their energy into community service.  They wish to learn about organic gardening, hydration systems and composting.  We wish to create an edible school yard.  We wish to donate our produce to our school kitchen as well as the families of our school and members of our town.  As a part of this program, we hope to lessen the lack of purpose that some elders are feeling during this time by having them volunteer off hours to help with maintaining our space.  Voluteers and families have enthusiastically voluntered throughout the summer to keep our small outdoor garden alive, which was difficult during times of heat!  Our Summer Discovery Program will grow and continue to care for our outdoor classroom as well.
