Slow Food Seacoast
Our Purpose
Slow Food Seacoast is a local chapter of Slow Food USA and part the International Slow Food movement. The guiding principles of Slow Food include all initiatives that support good, clean and fair food. This encompasses delicious and nutritious food, sustainable farming practices and all aspects of food justice for farm workers and eaters alike. As a chapter, we receive support from SFUSA for their larger initiatives but have the freedom to choose projects and solutions for the most important issues within the communities we serve. Our focus area is Seacoast NH and Southern Maine. Our region has a strong local food system. There are vibrant farmers markets, a thriving chef community and engaged consumers who recognize the many benefits of locally grown food. We offer a variety of public, educational events and workshops each year that focus on promoting local food and farmers, chef-farmer connections, food security, seed saving, gardening, appreciating flavor and more. We support other food related organizations in our area and have developed numerous partnerships with like-minded groups.
