In 2007, a group of parents, teachers, and administrators started SCS FEED. Inspired by the statewide organization,VT FEED, our goal continues to be to raise awareness about healthy food, Vermont farms, and good nutrition in our school and community. We achieve this by combining diverse opportunitites that share a consistent message. Throughout spring, summer and fall, our 16 raised garden beds serve as a melting pot of shared values and facilitate (1) CLASSROOM LEARNING by helping teachers weave food, and nutrition into their curriculum (2) CAFETERIA involvement through taste testing new foods to include in our school lunch program. The final opportunity we have to reinforce our message is trying to create strong ties in the community with local businesses and organizations that share our values.
