Scarborough does have two long-established and important environmental organizations, the Friends of Scarborough Marsh and the Scarborough Land Trust, with the Eastern Trail Alliance providing support. However these organizations have constraints in the form of relationships with town, state and federal entities that prevent them from taking on an active advocacy position in certain situations.
