Save Girls on Fyer
Our Purpose
SGOF’s mission is to motivate, inspire and empower girls of color to become Future Young Educated Role Models (FYER). We envision a world in which Black and Brown girls are educated, liberated, and celebrated. Over the next year, SGOF expects to expose more than 100 girls of color to our Leadership Academy through both in-person and our new online platform where virtual learning has become the new norm. We are expanding our Leadership program to include an advocacy component that will focus on creating a documentary called “Let Black Girls Live”. The Let Black Girls Live campaign teaches girls of color ages 11-18 documentary filmmaking, leadership, system advocacy and research skills. During the program, the girls will create a documentary highlighting the lives of women that were lost due to police brutality. The project will culminate with a public premier on our virtual platform, where they will make their call to action for community leaders, politicians and other girls of color to get involved. Despite the many years of progress in the advancement of women’s rights there are still huge disparities in gender equality and violence against women. The purpose of this project is to inspire the girls to invest their entrepreneur brainpower into solving some of the Nation’s most acute social problems while creating a space where they can share experiences through art and media.
