Our purpose is to... “to inspire generations of food growers, environmental stewards and problem solvers through experiential education in orchards and gardens.” By planting educational orchards with students and food forests with community organizations, we are creating positive change in the food system that benefits the environment. Our motto is “planting trees of fruit and seeds of thought”. Each orchard and food forest will generate thousands of pounds of nutritious fruit and nuts over time, providing increased access to healthy food while creating O2, absorbing CO2, creating wildlife habitat and retaining groundwater while serving as outdoor classrooms. ReTreeUS prioritizes projects in areas with elevated levels of food insecurity and environmental disadvantage. We work directly with students and community organizations to create edible landscapes that provide countless benefits to human health and the ecology. By giving students and community members ownership over their fruit trees we invite opportunities for true stewardship and connectivity. The seeds of thought that grow from these experiences have the power to generate enormous positive change.
