At Richmond Elementary School, our purpose is to provide agricultural as well as health and wellness education to our students while bridging the gap within our community. We currently maintain a small exterior garden, run by students, teachers, Master Gardeners, and parent volunteers. Our garden beds not only serves as an outdoor classroom, but provide small amounts of fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables to out local food pantry in the Summer months. Our pollinator bed serves as a haven for various insects to thrive in their natural habitat while working in conjunction with our science curriculum and insect units for the students. We also maintain a pre existing greenhouse that our volunteers continue to repair in the hopes that one day it will be in full working order so that we can utilize an outdoor classroom, grow food for the school and community, and provide an agricultural education year round.
