Our purpose is to create and strengthen linkages among groups, businesses, and individuals all along the food supply chain in north-central Massachusetts in ways that are fair for everyone. We recognize the many ways that our food system pits the interests of different actors against one another, especially low-wealth eaters and small-scale growers, sellers, and distributors. We seek to overcome those divisions and to move toward a system where everyone in our community has access to good food through solidarity rather than charity. We push against the "siloing" of concerns with health, farm viability, environmental protection, jobs, and economic development by convening community discussions and supporting shared projects relating to food. By serving as a fiscal sponsor for creative cross-sector collaborations and helping to build a shared analysis of what a truly just and resilient food system would look and feel like in our area, we hope to connect people more deeply to one another and to the place we live.
