Print Ain't Dead
Our Purpose
Print Ain't Dead is a Black, queer and volunteer run reading room, bookstore, publisher and platform focused on highlighting the literary works of people of color. Our Hyde Park reading room acts as a community space while offering used and new books at low and accessible prices. We pop-up around Greater Boston to bring books directly to the people and program free community learning events like our signature series, the Black Feminist Study Hall. We also design and publish zines and other works created by POC.There is an acute lack of access to bookstores in the neighborhoods of Mattapan, Roxbury, Dorchester and Hyde Park, communitites predominantly comprised of people of color. There is only one bookstore that currently serves these areas- we started Print Ain't Dead in 2018 to help fill in this literary gap. We sell books at low prices because we believe price shoudn't be a barrier to obtaining books. We publish zines by POC because we believe we are underpresented in publishing.
