Pollinator Protectors
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to...Protect Pollinators by increasing local and regional pollinator friendly habitat. To foster an awareness and love of Pollinators... all they do for us in the environment, agriculture and beauty. Pollinator Protectors started in the first Covid Summer of 2020, after a wonderful Zoom workshop for children on Pollinators, taught by Oscar Vergara Phd Agricultural Economics. The kids (and adults) were enthralled by the variety of Native Pollinators and Oscar's great teaching. Our first meeting, September 8th, was the same day our Director was sprayed with Trugreen's Immidacloprid (Neonicotinoid Pesticide Drift) from her neighbor. She is still recovering her health. Trugreen is still spraying in her neighborhood! We encourage neighbors and communities to take voluntary pledges to be pesticide free, especially NEVER to use Neonicotinoids and Bifenthrin that are so harmful to Pollinators. We educate through presentations, art, brochures, neighbor-to-neighbor discussion, at community events. Our first Goal: plant 200 Pollinator Gardens on our East Coast Pollinator Pathway, which we will map. We offer Pollinator Garden Kits for donations by sliding fee, FREE if experiencing Food Insecurity. Included in our Pollinator Garden Kit: local, organic, Indigenous Pollinator Friendly seeds seedlings and soil, local honey, bees wax lip balm, hemp tee shirt with logo and an eye catching Pollinator Friendly educational yard sign.
