Pine Hill Partnership, Inc.
Our Purpose
Our primary purpose is to create a non-motorized sustainable trail system in Pine Hill Park in Rutland, VT.We are looking to get more people out in the woods in nature, hiking, riding, running. The local schools utitlize the park for nature programs, science projects which include planting hybrid chestnut trees and milkweed for monarch butterfly way stations. Rutland High XC team trains in the park.Pine Hill Partnership, Inc formed a 501 (c) (3) in 2007 so businesses and community members had a way to contribute money. With these funds we were able to buy lumber for bridges, hand tools, chainsaw, weedwhacker, motorized wheelbarrow and a snowdog to groom trails in the winter. Many of our volunteers also help with the mountain bike programs in the park. Gritty Girls are girls grades 4-8th learning how to ride in the woods. The youth mtn bike group had over 70 kids last year. Plus a women's mountain bike clinic that attracts women to learn how to ride a mountain bike in the woods.Rutland Rec holds running and mountain bike races in the summertime in the park.A 2018 economic study showed Pine Hill Park had 35,000 visits and spent about 1.3 million dollars in our community. We are looking to pay a trail manager to oversee the work of all our volunteers. Our volunteers average 80-90 days, 2500-2600 hours/year working in the park.We receive no funding from Rutland City.
