Our Purpose

The Pembroke Community Garden is being developed by Evan Shuey as an Boy Scout Eagle Project. Evan has formed a Garden Committee and has begun public outreach and fundraising. The garden will serve the community of Pembroke and will be located in a field behind the Pembroke Library on Pembroke St. It has recieved permission from the Pembroke Selectmen, The Pembroke Library Trustees and the Pembroke Congregational Church (the land owner). The goal is to provide those in the commmunity with a place to grow vegetables that is easily accessible to the community, to provide educational opportunities and to enhance community connections. Many residents of the communiuty live in either apartments or in areas where soils and other conditions are not conducive for growing vegetables. Being adjacent to the Town Library will provide opportunities for education. The garden will also provide an oportunity for commmunity memebers to interact and establish a connection to the land
