Nuestro Mundo strives to prepare empathetic, environmentally conscious leaders to serve their communities and beyond. Our new dual language public charter school is designed to collaborate with families and community leaders to foster a sense of student agency, awareness and compassion. By framing our curriculum and instruction in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we aim to grow global citizens who help, protect, respect, and act on the issues impacting our world.Students at Nuestro Mundo engage in project-based learning to empower themselves as global problem solvers and take action by contributing to their Providence community. The funding from the Seed Grant will help us execute a long-term project of urban school gardening. To achieve our goals, Nuestro Mundo Public Charter School is dedicated to designing spaces and opportunities for students to play an active role in catalyzing positive change. This project will promote critical-thinking skills as we explore how community gardens augment access to healthy resources and sustain a natural healthy environment. Through experiential hands-on learning, students will collaborate to plan, implement, and sustain a garden that can serve as a model for the community.
