Our Purpose

Our purpose is to...provide a refreshing alternative to conventional classroom instruction. Pre-Technical Education is a one-year, program for freshmen and  sophomores who thrive in project-oriented experiences that emphasize applied academics. Students are involved in a wide variety of cutting-edge technical activities where they learn science, mathematics, social studies, and communication skills while building personal development assets. Much of the learning takes place outside a traditional classroom and instead uses authentic locations to engage reluctant students and to provide experiences for deeper and more relevant learning. The teaching strategy employed by the program's instructors is to create "teachable moments" frequently by giving students new and challenging experiences by exploring curriculum content from the many various programs offered at the center.
