Our Purpose

Our purpose is to... support an initiative in which permaculture fruit tree plantings will be incorporated into a number of high schools across our state. Student groups from different high schools are working on designs and will carry out the implementation, and we will provide the funding for these projects to be carried out. This represents a partnership between the Northwest Conservation District, the UConn School of Medicine and the CT envirothon competition. We would like to impact public health and expand access to fresh fruit across the state, as well as teaching students how to grow their own low maintenance fruit trees varieties, focusing on disease resistance of the plants in addition to public health. The money from this seed grant will allow us to facillitate this process and help us bring the students' ideas into reality.
