Our Purpose

to promote and support sustainable agriculture in the heart of North Amherst. The primary objective of North Amherst Community Farm is to preserve and develop its 35 acre farm site into a productive and educational agricultural resource for the community.

Summary of Projects

The Community Farm received a grant in 2011 to partner with the Amherst Survival Center to create greater access to fresh, local produce for Amherst residents who have lower incomes and may not be able to purchase local produce. The group also aims to provide a means for these Amherst residents to have more connection to the land and food growing. To accomplish these goals, the Farm will work on: 1. Gleaning Program; 2. Community Gardens; 3. Farm tour with vegetable tasting and picking; 4. Food Scraps for leftover vegetable exchange, and, 5. Cooking classes with local seasonal produce. NEGEF funds are used for a coordinator stipend.
